Common questions

Everything you need to know about portfolio look-through analysis.

What is a portfolio X-ray for mutual funds?
A portfolio X-ray looks through your mutual funds to show the actual stocks and sectors you own underneath. Instead of just knowing you hold 5 funds, you see that 38% of your total portfolio is in financial stocks, 22% in HDFC Bank, Infosys, and ICICI Bank combined, etc.
How is this different from the overlap detector?
The overlap detector compares two funds pairwise. The portfolio X-ray aggregates all your funds together and shows your single consolidated view — weighted by your allocation. It answers "what do I actually own?" rather than "do these two funds share stocks?"
How does Topsheet calculate portfolio X-ray?
Topsheet fetches each fund's latest AMFI monthly holdings disclosure. We weight each stock by your allocation percentage in each fund, then sum up across all funds to produce a single weighted portfolio. Stocks are mapped to sectors using BSE/NSE classifications.
Why might my portfolio be more concentrated than I think?
Most large-cap, flexi-cap, and Nifty index funds hold the same top 10–15 large-cap stocks. If you hold 3 such funds with equal allocation, each fund's HDFC Bank weight (say 8%) adds up to a combined 8% HDFC Bank exposure — not the 2.7% you might assume from dividing equally.
